I'm wondering if others are also having recently blast using Linux desktop thanks to Claude/Codex/Grok CLIs? As 20y daily Mac user, occasionally using Linux as desktop, my personal daily OS now gravitated towards Linux desktop in recent months quite a lot. I attribute it purely to LLM CLIs. Even my old 2012 Intel iMac 27" on Linux became really good and pleasant machine to use. After dusting it off and setting it up I don't want to give it away anymore. Solutions to quirks/customizations seem to

JPMorgan can't be pleased by any of this.
I’m an independent researcher currently exploring what I believe is an important phenomenon for both mechanistic interpretability and AI safety. Core idea: A strong, coherent target text can move the model into a different internal regime — before the final output is produced. The model can still appear to behave normally, follow instructions, and pass existing safety filters, yet its hidden states and residual strea

Long story short, I used to be excited about the possibility of building something and earning significant money from it. I used to think a couple people making a couple million or even up to a billion is cool in some way. Building a startup seemed like a vehicle of social mobility. 2 or 3 million dollars is about the range where I can buy a really nice house, set up a basic farm and my to-be-born kids could choose education paths based solely on their interests. That's a lot more money than I o

I recently created a few apps that I feel are really helpful for power users. I have showin it to a few friends and they love the idea, but I have no idea on how to market the app or get users for it. I'm sure people will like it. Any feedback is welcome. Hi HackerNews! I've recently added an API + Docs to ampledata - my AI enrichment platform. Idea is simple. Given a set of rows in a table you can hit ampledata via an api and a workflow will run to enrich the table with columns of your choosing by searching the web and giving you citations + exact sources. You can think of it as a cited bulk enrichment platform. Ampledata is also OSS so feel free to self host it and use your own api keys. Or if you are just interested in the tech. Comments URL:
Last year, the FBI opened a Cyber Range in Huntsville, Alabama, for simulating cyberattacks. Think of it sort of like the famous Hogan's Alley, but for modern digital crime training. It's a massive 22,000 square-foot replica of an entire town, complete with a convenience store, gas station, hospital, and even fully furnished houses. It's a […]

The U.K. seems to be following Australia's lead in banning a wide swath of social media for teens.
Before anyone attacks me. I want to say I'm new to this platform and I will improve in the feature. However, I noticed the Minecraft community's trend of calling Mojang lazy and hating on new updates has been a trend since 2021. People say 1.16 was the last good update. False, that's subjective. All updates are good for things they aim for. They call Mojang lazy id they don't get the update they want. They just want it to be like terraria. Mamma mia!

This week everyone's been asking this, and news agencies tried to put $3t in perspective but didn't really do it, resorting to things like how many dollars it takes laid end to end to the moon, etc. The richest American was Rockefeller, who 100 years ago was worth around $1b ($700m-1.2b estimated). $1b in 1900 USD equates to $25b in 2026 USD, which is fraction of Musk's worth, but this is only in purchasing power as a consumer. In basically all metrics common to 1900 and 2026, Musk could buy mor
