Show HN: Memento – Self-hosted agentic search and LLM wiki over your email

Our email inboxes carry multiple decades of messages (100K-500K). This is a good proxy for all the important things that happened in your life, the projects you have done and the people that you have connected with. With the chronological view of messages in the inbox, these details remain hidden. What if we could turn this archive into a personal wiki that you can search and curate? That is Memento. For the information architecture of such a wiki, Memento takes an opinionated view of creating f

The ongoing debacle of hiring a fake coworker

so, just had a guy ousted today in part due to my own judgment, as well as my boss'. this guy passed the interview rounds cleanly with decent answers -- I was in one, and I suspected something was "off" about him, but was willing to go ahead. after a couple months it becomes apparent this person is not really as inquisitive or critical as I'd like. they ask no questions, need no clarification, are silent in meetings. once it comes time to look at PRs, it's incredibly apparent it's LLM slop. not

I built a leakage-clean verifier for robot manipulation, is this useful? Am I solving a non-problem? [D]

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>Spent the last few weeks on a benchmark/harness that tries to answer one question honestly: <em>did a robot arm actually do the demonstrated task, or did the success metric just get fooled?</em></p> <p>The setup: compile a human demo into an object-centric graph (what changed in the world: relations, contacts, event order), run a solver, then independently extract a graph from the <em>rollout only</em> and check if they match. The whole point is a hard informati

Show HN: In Browser semantic wallpaper search over 16k+ wallpapers

I indexed around 16k+ most-viewed wallpapers from wallhaven.cc using a CLIP-based model to generate image embeddings, and then hacked together a cool demo showing the vector search working client-side using sqlite-wasm compiled with the new and upcoming sqlite-vec extension, which allows me to do the vector search over the image index client-side! The inference over the actual text-encoder of CLIP also happens client-side using transformers.js :) Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?i

Tell HN: Anthropic walks back on Agent SDK credit changes

Just received: In May, we sent you an email announcing that starting today, the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party apps built on the Agent SDK would stop drawing from subscription rate limits and move to a dedicated monthly credit. We're writing to let you know that we’re not making this change today. We’re working to update the plan to better support how users build with Claude subscriptions. What this means for you Nothing changes for now. Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party app us

Show HN: BlitzGraph – Supabase for graphs, built for LLM agents

Hello HN After becoming allergic to SQL, I opened 120+ issues in Dgraph, Typedb and surrealdb looking for the perfect graphDB. None of them was built for agents nor were they the perfect fit for what we wanted to achieve: fully ditching the SQL legacy to properly model reality. So we decided to build BlitzGraph In BlitzGraph, records (units) can belong to multiple types (kinds) and evolve through time. Also polymorphic relations are first class and multiple kinds can play the same role. This des

Ask HN: Why are LLMs so bad at board games?

I've come across a use case LLMs seem inexplicably bad at: reading and understanding board game rules. It seems like it should be something an LLM would be excellent at. After all, a rulebook is just a self contained set of instructions. And yet, not only do LLMs fail to play a board game, I have yet to get one to successfully understand a rulebook enough to even answer basic rules questions. This seems like a massive red flag overall for the status of AI. I'm wondering if this is an overcomeabl

Ask HN: What are some good/fast coding models for Apple Silicon?

I have an M4 Max with 128 GB of unified memory, and I thought it would be easy to reach decent inference speeds with it. After a few failed attempts to exceed about 150 t/s with completely custom Metal inference engines tailor-built by Claude, I'm stumped. I'm not really sure how to make this hardware usable -- I can only really afford DeepSeek levels of pricing right now, but DeepSeek is slow and I'm really itching for something faster. Up until now, I've had a $200 per month Claude subscriptio

The Cybercab is the lightest, most efficient Tesla ever made

Against all odds, the Tesla Cybercab is in production. And while Elon Musk's company may not have a very coherent plan for the tiny, autonomous two-seater, it's still taking the necessary steps to certify the EV's legitimacy. As such, Tesla recently filed paperwork with the Environmental Protection Agency that reveal many of the Cybercab's specs, […]

Fastest, Largest, Strongest: NVIDIA Blackwell Sweeps MLPerf Training 6.0

Every breakthrough AI model starts the same way: with a training run. The infrastructure running those training jobs shapes everything: how fast teams can iterate, what scale of model they can build and whether those jobs complete reliably. As models grow in size, complexity and intelligence, the demands on training infrastructure are also rising. In […]
