Hacker News Ask

Ask HN: How do you find new books to read?

I'm looking to update my reading list of 2026 to include anything interesting that was recently, or about to be, published. The internet is of course full of lists about the "most anticipated" or "the hottest" books of the year/summer/etc. But these are not what I'm after. My reading habits are a bit out of sync with the mainstream and rarely feature in lists of most popular books. (If it helps, some of my favorites include Apple in China, The Chip War, Spec Ops [by McRaven], and Chokepoints.) I

Ask HN: Languages in the Age of AI

Most of my professional work is in embedded systems, typically using C++. I've been doing more of my hobby work in Python (MicroPython/CircuitPython) and was thinking of investigating Rust. But then it occurred to me that if we're using AI more and more to generate code, does it really matter what language is used? If an agent is writing most of my code from prompts, I just need to understand the language well enough to verify that the reviewing agent is doing a good enough job and maybe tweak i

How A2A is Building a World of Collaborative Agents

Celebrating the first anniversary of the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol, this blog post highlights how the framework enables autonomous AI agents to securely collaborate and hand off tasks without the rigidity of traditional APIs. By delegating complex workflows to specialized peer agents, A2A prevents context pollution, ensures data privacy, and simplifies application design through modularity. To demonstrate this ecosystem in action, the post spotlights FoldRun—an agentic interface for life sci

PWA with React + Leaflet: lessons from a 31-city map app

<p>Notes from shipping a real-world PWA in Korea:</p> <ol> <li>Vite SSG is worth it. SPAs lose Korean SEO because Naver's crawler doesn't fully render JS.</li> <li>Leaflet > Mapbox for cost-sensitive projects. Free OSM tiles + zero cost.</li> <li>Firebase Hosting rewrites let you have deep URLs (/city/suwon) without a backend.</li> <li>KakaoTalk share is non-negotiable in Korea — 70%+ of social traffic.</li> <li>PWA install banner: don't auto-prompt, let the user discover.</li> </ol> <p>Project:

Building lavanderia-crm — 2026-06-17

<p>When I think about what drives me as a developer, it's not just about solving complex technical problems, but also about understanding how those solutions impact people's lives. Recently, I found myself reflecting on a project that's close to my heart - the lavanderia-crm repository. It's a project that started as a simple CRM system for a local laundry business, but over time, it has evolved into a full-fledged platform that explores the intersection of productivity, cybersecurity, and AI. What Is an MCP Proxy - And When Do You Actually Need a Gateway Instead?

<p><strong>TL;DR</strong></p> <ul> <li>An MCP proxy forwards requests between AI agents and MCP servers — it handles transport, not governance. Fast to set up, hits a wall the moment you have more than one team or more than two servers</li> <li>An MCP gateway adds identity, RBAC, audit trails, and per-tool policy enforcement on top of that routing layer — it's where your organization's actual AI policy gets enforced</li> <li>We started with a proxy, got bitten by the exact things proxies don't h

AI Agents Today Aren't Secure. They're Just Clumsy

<p>There is a quiet assumption running through most conversations about AI security: that the danger is coming, but it isn't here yet. That assumption is mostly right. What fewer people acknowledge is <em>why</em>.</p> <p>Today's AI agents are not safe because anyone made them safe. They are safe because they are not yet competent enough to be reliably dangerous.</p> <p>This is not a security posture. It is borrowed time.</p> <h2> The Attack That's Already Happening </h2> <p>Prompt injection doe

Hi all, I recently built (and am continuing to improve) intuitivepapers.ai to help me study and understand AI research papers. For me, it's important to build intuition for concepts, and when reading a research paper, that can take me a while. Also, papers can be unnecessarily intimidating or verbose. I also find myself having to jump around to prior papers to understand the preceding work. My motivation was to be able to read an explainer in one place that: - explains the preceding foundations
