There is an adversarial relationship between developers and big model labs. Model labs charged developers higher API prices to subsidize their own agent harness offerings. Think Anthropic charging 5x higher Claude API prices to subsidize consumer subscriptions. So Cursor in a way was subsidizing their own direct competitor. DeepSeek V4 Flash totally inverted this relationship. Now you have a model that beats even Sonnet in some benchmarks and is totally opensourced. Now inference providers are r

There's a flood of people shipping real, playable things with AI now, but they're scattered across X threads and Discords and disappear in a day. I wanted one place to actually discover and play them, and one place for builders to get eyes on what they made. Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48680087 Points: 1 # Comments: 0

Privacy controls — systems that enforce retention, access, allowed-purpose, downstream-sharing, or anonymization policies — require a reliable understanding of data to function. Before such a control can operate effectively, it must know exactly what it is looking at. This can be complex, as demonstrated by a field simply named “age“: In one context, it might [...] Read More... Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the California AI-Unemployment Tracker, a public resource to monitor AI's workforce impact.

As Agents do more and more work. They need more access to real-world tools such as mail and phone numbers, payments, etc. Recently I gave a phone number to my Hermes. It's doing a lot of tasks now, from booking apartments to setting up medical appointments for me. Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48679841 Points: 2 # Comments: 1
The Trump administration, apprehensive of potential security issues, has reportedly asked OpenAI to stagger the release of its next big-ticket model, GPT-5.6. The Information reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told employees Wednesday in a company Q&A that it would release GPT-5.6 in limited preview form - granting access only to a small group of […]

I made a memory cleaner for Claude Code. I guess it'll probably work in Codex, OpenCode, Composer etc, but I've only tested it in Claude Code. It's for getting rid of all of the bloat and crap that builds up in your memory file so that it works better, because when it's too full it stops helping, and seems to actively hurt. I built it because I noticed that over time my Claude sessions were missing some of the things that I'd asked it to remember. The reason why this works is because it always a

Code review is the new bottleneck. "Tests passing" is no longer sufficient to trust the changes, and the (human) cost of evaluating the quality and robustness of new agent-written contributions is skyrocketing. We built Topos to evaluate code quality based on the structural properties of the programs themselves. We map your files to graphs (AST, CFG, CPG, MDG) and calculate metrics that can characterize how simple, composable, or secure your programs are. Agents can use this tool as they write a

I like AssertJ-style fluent assertions. I tried to find a library that does that for Go, but couldn't. So I wrote my own some time ago, but I didn't quite like it. A few days ago I heard about Go 1.27 and the addition of generic methods, so I gave it another try. I like the way it came out this time. Most of the code was written with 1.26. Just now, after the 1.27 RC release, I changed the top-level methods to be generic - previously they were `any`. As for the AI: I used Claude Sonnet, but as a
